After his Tony win, Red director Michael Grandage talked about his next date with Broadway in 2012, when the first-ever revival of Evita will arrive on the Great White Way starring Elena Roger in the title role and Ricky Martin as Che. The British-born Grandage directed the 2006 West End production (starring Roger), but he doesn't plan on simply performing a copy/paste job. "I hope this will be an opportunity to look at that production. I also want to go back to [composer] Andrew Lloyd Webber and work more on the music," he said. Of the show's stars, Grandage said that having Roger, a native of Argentina, play the legendary political figure provided "an authenticity we could take much further—and Ricky [who is from Puerto Rico] will allow us to do that even more."
